As an advisor for Sustainable Services at the Department of Water and Sanitation, Ricard provides core expertise, promotes research, and advances knowledge with the aim of strengthening WASH systems and promoting sustainable delivery of services.

Prior to joining SIWI in 2018, he has been working as a researcher at the Technical University of Catalonia, in Barcelona. He has specialised in field data collection methods, development of policy tools to support decision making, and sustainability of WASH services. He has 15 years of experience working with water and sanitation issues in East and Southern Africa and in Latin America. During these years, he has published several scientific papers in the field of water and sanitation monitoring.

Ricard holds a PhD in Civil Engineering from the Technical University of Catalonia and a MSc in Environmental Engineering from the Imperial College London.
