Hanan has over six years of professional experience in development institutions with initiatives related to land use planning, integrated water resources management, ecosystem management, climate change, energy, climate smart technologies and institutional capacity building. 

Hanan holds an Msc. in environmental science and bachelor’s degree in biology from the Addis Ababa University. Prior to joining SIWI, she had worked with The Horn of Africa Regional Environment Centre and Network (an autonomous institution under Addis Ababa University), Ethiopian Climate Innovation centre (a project funded by the World Bank Group) and Abt. Associates /USAID.
