Mats Eriksson, PhD
Mats is a Senior Manager and water and climate expert at the transboundary water cooperation department, also working for the International Centre for Water Cooperation (ICWC) hosted by SIWI under the auspices of UNESCO.
Eriksson has 30 years’ hands on experience on environment and sustainable development focusing on water, climate and resilience in national, regional and transboundary scales in Africa and Asia. He leads research, knowledge generation and multi-stakeholder dialogues.
Eriksson has a background in glaciology with field experience from polar regions and high mountain areas. However, for his Ph.D. in Geography, obtained in 1998, he specialized in human and climate impact on land and water, soil erosion and landscape evolution in East Africa. He has published more than 40 scientific articles and edited numerous reports in the field.
