Stockholm Water Prize to be announced on 22 March
SIWI has presented the Stockholm Water Prize every year since 1991. Some of the world’s most distinguished water experts have come to Stockholm to receive the award from the Prize’s official patron, the Swedish King H.M King Carl XVI Gustaf. The award ceremony and Royal Banquet usually take place in Stockholm during World Water Week, the last week of August. The announcement is always made earlier in the year, in conjunction with World Water Day in March.
Stockholm Water Prize honours women, men, and organizations for extraordinary water-related achievements. The Prize is often described as the Nobel Prize for water and is characterized by a rigorous nomination and selection process. The Nominating Committee consists of some of the world’s leading water experts. Their selection is further reviewed by the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences before the final decision is taken.
“Stockholm Water Prize is presented to leading scientists and practitioners who have made groundbreaking contributions. They come from many different academic fields and all parts of the world, reflecting how water is a truly global issue that influences all aspects of life,” says Katarina Andrzejewska, Senior Manager for Stockholm Water Prize at SIWI.
This year’s announcement ceremony will be held on 22 March 2pm CET and can be followed on Facebook.
