Water Dialogues – Water Smart Solutions

This SIWI webinar series invites the audience to get acquainted with the laureates’ and SJWP winners’ respective work and to contribute to the discussion on how the world needs to respond to current challenges, and future needs. The series will be divided into five different sessions, where each session will centre around a dialogue between one Stockholm Water Prize Laureate and one Stockholm Junior Water Prize winner.

This is part of the Water Dialogue webinar series, and will look into the topic of Water Smart Solutions.

As one of two national contenders from Nigeria in 2018, Iniso Edward will speak on his and Blessing Umoukpong’s Stockholm Junior Water Prize project. The project utilizes available local materials to purify water for domestic purposes, through the fibers of coconut and Costus plants.

Rachel Chang won the Stockholm Junior Water Prize in 2017 along with Ryan Thorpe on their project to detect and purify water contaminated with Shigella, E. Coli, Salmonella and Cholera, more rapidly than conventional methods.

Dr. Peter Morgan received the Stockholm Water Prize in 2013 for inventing and advancing low-cost practical solutions for both sanitation and clean water. In his over 40 year career, he has helped millions of people.
