UN Decade of Ocean Science
Activities far from the coast can have profound impacts on the health of the ocean, threaten marine life, interfere with the ocean’s capacity to serve as a crucial carbon sink and reduce its benefits to society.
To protect the ocean from pollution and promote a sustainable blue economy, it is essential to take action on land and in rivers as well as in the ocean itself. This session will explore ways wherein freshwater and ocean communities can increase their collaboration to better understand, monitor and reduce pollution across the source-to-sea continuum of inland, coastal and marine ecosystems.
This is a satellite activity of the Clean Ocean Laboratory as part of the United Nations Decade of Ocean Science.
