Welcome to our webinar where we are highlighting the opportunities that landscape restoration provides for water, climate and biodiversity!
Safe access to clean water is a growing challenge, and Sweden is no exception. Landscape restoration can provide a solution for improving water security whilst simultaneously benefitting people and the environment. Global warming, extended periods of drought and increasingly erratic precipitation patterns are presenting unprecedented challenges and put pressure on water-related ecosystem services which our landscape’s productivity is reliant on.
These services are also crucial to the achieving many of the SDGs, something that ‘The UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration’ is aiming to highlight. This new decade commences 2021, and we believe that Swedish actors also can contribute to this work!
Therefore, we are welcoming you to this webinar where we will discuss the importance of landscape restoration and the management of productive landscapes!
Such landscapes – with efficient and sustainable agriculture, agroforestry, forestry, industry and societies – are reliant on and affect water flows. So how can we better integrate water in policy, business and land management approaches? How does land restoration support water security? What are the national and international frameworks that regulate this? Which knowledge do Swedish actors have that can be shared with other parts of the world? What can we learn from other countries and apply to our own landscape, which is constantly changing?
